I think it is a bit rich for any golfer to ascertain that life is, to paraphrase, "sh!t".
After all, we spend our free time hitting and then following a small ball around a large field, full of obstacles of our own devising, and refer to it as a leisure activity.
Anyone with the time and inclination to even attempt to enjoy this, while they may not enjoy a particular round/hole/shot, can't be having the sort of life that would be need to encapsulated in a one word expletive.
I would, however, argue that life might just have a really sh!tty sense of humour.
For over two and a half years, the pandemic has raged around the globe, we have had multiple lockdowns, and the disease is now rife in the country, and so it is with an unerring sense of the comedic, that I and my family have all been struck down, the day before we were due to fly to the UK.
Two and a half years.
One day before.
The good news is that as we have all been stabbed and pricked the appropriate number of times, the effects of the disease have been, fonrtunately, muted, and we will be travelling next weekend instead. The bad news is that this concientiousness means that the insurance companies can wriggle out of thier responsibilities (a rant for another time), and it is going to cost us significantly more to fly thatn we originally envisaged, but again, life can't be too bad if we're still going can it?
No, the worst part of all of this, is that one of the symptoms of Covid can be insomnia.
Which basically means that you feel like you are jet-lagged, at a point in time when I should be jet-lagged, but then I shouldn't be as I'm not, but am feeling like I am all the same
Life, does indeed have a truly sh!tty sense of humour
Stay safe, play well, and I look forward to seeing you all soon
Steve
PS - No newsletter next week as I will be on a plane (I probably shouldn't be tempting fate like that, should I?)
